There are 470 seats being voted on: all of the house and a third of the Senate.

The whole two party, winner-take-all system, has egg on its face,

• If you run as an outsider, your opponent will have a big handicap.
  • getting on the ballot will be easier
  • A whole lot of people are fed up with the whole system.
• Common wisdom is that a third party candidate can only mess things up, so maybe running as a Democrat would be a better strategy.
  • You could help the Democratic Party reassert its former goals.
  • You’d have more hoops to jump through.
