“If we are to reach real peace in this world, we shall have to begin with the children.” – Ghandi
.
It’s a terrible thing to teach that people are basically bad: gives feelings of distrust, alienation, self loathing, and an excuse for continually bad behavior and phony religiosity.
We are what we’ve learned.
Teaching is coercive; learning is spontaneous. Education provides incentive for learning and opportunities for it to happen.
Genetics determines learning capacity. Experience causes learning.
Hatred is taught, not learned from experience.
Children should be lovingly encouraged to overcome the negative feelings of aggression, greed, jealousy, hurt, and fear; and to develop their innate gifts.
By middle school, students should be very familiar with the concept of “barn raising” and the with the history of the Crusades, Saladin, and the Ayyubid Empire
Loving Kindness Meditation is a powerful tool for feeling good about yourself and others, and for practicing the Judaeo-Christian teaching to love your neighbor. (Leviticus 19:18, Matthew 22:39)
Highly recommended.
