“No one has ever become poor by giving.” — Anne Frank
We need to stop burning fossil fuels ASAP. The people can’t afford to replace their cars and heating systems, but the billionaire class can easily provide the funds, without decreasing the number of billionaires at all. And there are a whole lot of other people who could also afford to donate.
We can fund it the way we fund museums, art galleries, churches, and hospitals: Use an NGO to solicit gifts, make grants, and immortalize the donors on a DC Mall wall.
Power shortages and rate hikes could be minimized by using a bond ladder to have funds grow until grants are made as new power plants come on line.
In addition to fighting climate change, incentivizing a lot more green energy production, creating a lot of well paying jobs, increasing the GDP, and the tax base; this project would also help minimize Trump’s justification for starting a trade war.
