How to copy words

On our site, most copying is done for you. When you clicktap a button like Copy, EMAIL FRIENDS, or an influencer’s name, the words are copied automatically. The button turns green when it’s done. Then go to How to paste.

To copy other words yourself:

  1. Move the mouse so the pointer is just before the first word you want.
  2. Press and hold the left mouse button. (On a trackpad: press down and keep pressing.)
  3. Keep holding, and move the pointer to just after the last word. The words turn blue. That means they are selected.
  4. Let go of the mouse button.
  5. Find the Ctrl key (bottom-left corner of the keyboard)⌘ command key (right next to the space bar). Hold it down.
  6. While holding it, press the C key once.
  7. Let go of both keys. Nothing seems to happen. That’s normal: the words are now copied and waiting to be pasted.
Another way: after step 4, click the right mouse button on the blue wordshold control and click the blue words (or click with two fingers on a trackpad). A small menu appears. Click Copy.
  1. Put your finger on the first word and keep it there for about one second, until the word turns blue and a small black menu appears.
  2. Lift your finger. You’ll see a small round handle at each end of the blue area.
  3. Put your finger on the handle at the end and drag it to just after the last word you want. (Drag the other handle if the start is wrong.)
  4. Lift your finger. In the small black menu, tap Copy. (If you don’t see Copy, tap the little arrow ▸ at the end of the menu.)
  1. Put your finger on the first word and keep it there for about one second, until the word is highlighted.
  2. Lift your finger. You’ll see a small teardrop-shaped handle at each end of the highlighted words.
  3. Drag the handle at the end to just after the last word you want.
  4. Lift your finger. In the small menu that appears, tap Copy.

How to switch between pages

Some buttons open a new page on top of ours. Our page is still there, just hidden behind it. Here’s how to uncover it.

Want to see both pages at the same time instead? See Put two pages side by side.

  1. Look at the very top of your browser window. You’ll see small labels side by side, like folder tabs. Each tab is a page.
  2. Find the tab that says We’ve Been Had! or US-SOS.INFO. (Names may be cut short.)
  3. Click it once. Our page comes back to the front.
  4. To go back to the other page (like your email), click its tab.
Keyboard way: hold Ctrlcontrol (not command) and press Tab. Each press moves one tab to the right.
No tabs at the top (Safari)? Click View in the menu bar at the very top of the screen, then click Show Tab Bar.
A whole new window opened? Look at the bar along the bottom of your screen (the taskbar). Click your browser’s icon, then click our page in the small pictures that pop up.Click Window in the menu bar at the very top of the screen, then click our page’s name near the bottom of that menu.

If your email (or another app) opened

  1. Look at the very top-left corner of the screen for a tiny ◀ Safari (or ◀ Chrome). Tap it, and you’re back.
  2. Don’t see it? Swipe up slowly from the very bottom edge of the screen and stop in the middle. Your open apps appear side by side.
  3. Tap Safari (or the browser you were using).

If a new page opened in Safari

  1. Tap the Tabs button at the bottom-right: it looks like two overlapping squares . (If you don’t see it, tap the bottom of the screen once to bring the buttons back.)

  1. Tap the square with a number in it, at the top-right next to the web address .
  2. All your open pages appear as cards. Tap the card that says us-sos.info.

How to put two pages side by side

You can show two pages at once, for example our page on the left half of the screen and your email on the right half. Then you can see both while you work.

Step A: Give the page its own window

  1. Look at the tabs along the very top of your browser. Find the tab you want on the other half of the screen (for example Gmail).
  2. Put the mouse pointer on that tab. Press and hold the left mouse button.
  3. Keep holding, and drag the tab down into the middle of the screen.
  4. Let go. The page is now in its own window.

Step B: Put the windows side by side

  1. Click once anywhere on the window you just made, so it’s in front.
  2. Find the Windows key ⊞ (bottom-left of the keyboard, between Ctrl and Alt). Hold it down.
  3. While holding it, press the left arrow key ← once. Let go of both keys. The window now fills the left half of the screen.
  4. Small pictures of your other windows appear on the right half. Click our page (We’ve Been Had! / US-SOS.INFO). It fills the right half.
Another way (Windows 11): move the pointer over the square button ☐ at the top-right of a window (between – and ✕) and wait a second. Small layout pictures appear. Click the left half of the first picture.
To go back to one big window: double-click the very top edge (title bar) of the window.

Step A: Give the page its own window

  1. Look at the tabs along the top of your browser. Find the tab you want on the other half of the screen (for example Gmail).
  2. Put the pointer on that tab. Press and hold (on a trackpad: press down and keep pressing).
  3. Keep holding, and drag the tab down into the middle of the screen.
  4. Let go. The page is now in its own window.

Step B: Put the windows side by side

  1. Look at the three small colored circles at the top-left corner of that window (red, yellow, green).
  2. Move the pointer onto the green circle and keep it there for a second, without clicking. A small menu appears.
  3. Click the choice that puts the window on the left half. Depending on your Mac it says Left (under Move & Resize) or Tile Window to Left of Screen, or shows a little picture with the left half filled.
  4. Now click our page’s window (We’ve Been Had! / US-SOS.INFO). If your Mac shows small pictures of your windows on the right, click ours. Do the same steps with the green circle and choose Right if it doesn’t move by itself.
If the screen went black around the pages: that’s “Split View”. It’s fine. To leave it, move the pointer to the very top of the screen and click the green circle.

On an iPad

  1. Open our page in Safari.
  2. Look at the very top middle of the screen for three small dots •••. Tap them.
  3. Tap the Split View button: a small rectangle split in two, with the left half filled.
  4. Safari slides to the side and your home screen appears. Tap the other app you want, for example Mail or Gmail.
  5. The two apps now share the screen. Drag the dark bar between them left or right to change the sizes.
Newer iPads: if you see three small colored circles (red, yellow, green) at the top-left of the window instead of three dots, touch and hold the green circle, then tap the left half choice.
To go back to one app: drag the dark bar in the middle all the way to the right or left edge of the screen.

On an iPhone

An iPhone screen is too small to show two apps at once. Instead, you can switch back and forth quickly: see Switch between pages.

  1. Open both apps first: Chrome with our page, and your email app (for example Gmail).
  2. Tap the Recent apps button: the square ▢ at the bottom of the screen. (No buttons there? Swipe up from the bottom edge and hold for a second.)
  3. Your open apps appear as cards. At the top of Chrome’s card, tap the small round Chrome icon.
  4. A small menu appears. Tap Split screen (it may say Open in split screen view).
  5. Chrome moves to the top half. Tap your email app’s card. It fills the bottom half.
  6. Drag the bar between them up or down to change the sizes.
To go back to one app: drag the bar in the middle all the way to the top or bottom of the screen.
